Well fans of Little Britain will recognise the mangling of the character Daffyd Thomas’s catchphrase of him being “The only gay in the village”, and realise that I’m talking about “Sunny” Wales. The nude on this occasion was the amazingly talented and beautiful Raphaella, and I went on a little road trip with her and my good friend and fellow photographer Francisca.
In May of this year I had been to visit Francisca in Portgual, taking a model with me of course as it is rude to visit a friend empty-handed :) We got some super images and they will be coming soooon, honest! This was the return leg and I’d sorted out some great places in north Wales.
It is said that it always rains in Wales, and after picking up Raphaella in the pouring rain, we then drove to north Wales in the pouring rain, and had breakfast in the pouring rain. From my research I had predicted that the rain would clear by noon, and then amazingly like magic at around that time it did clear and we got some beautiful light.
So we found an abandoned mill with a Raph-shaped hole, and here is the result – click for larger image. There was a larger hole, but that would not have been much of a challenge for one of the bendiest and most flexible models around.
After a productive day’s shooting, and finding the cottage we were staying at overnight, we went for a well-deserved meal at a nearby pub, and watched as the sun gradually fell towards the horizon with the sky turning a lovely colour. It was then just a 10 minute drive to the beach where I had planned for shooting the sunset, during which I got lost twice – and they talk about women drivers being bad navigators!
These are the real unadulterated colours we saw, and after shooting Raph for quite a time we packed up as it was getting quite chilly, but while drying herself the colours got even more amazing so Raph couldn’t resist and just stripped off again and dived back into the sea. For those that know her, they will know that she is so enthusiastic and that’s just the sort of thing she does.
We got loads more great images on both days of our shoot, and I hope to share more of them soon. In the meantime a huge thank to Raphaella and it was great to work with Francisca again.

Great set of captures here Tim. Wonderful sunset for them.
Very beautiful colors. Any chance of a 1920×1080 version of any one of those sunset ones.
Stunning… as always!
Thank you all, I just love seeing the colours change as the sun went down.
Donny send me an email and I’ll send you a copy for your desktop.
Tim they are wonderful as usual. I’m glad you kept the colours as they were. I did the same but got some comments that it didn’t look real.
It were some nice days which I really enjoyed. So also a big thank you from me to Raph and you.
The three of us know the colours were real Francisca, so why should we not show a wonderful sunset as it was. And yes a big thank you to Raph.
Beautiful photos Mr. Pile. I have risen from the dead to keep you on your toes. So, get to it! ;)
Nice to hear from you Mr Pope, I hope you are well, thank you for your comment and glad you have been resurrected. Lots more images coming soon!
