While I was working with Lulu at this location, little did I know that it would be the last time I would be able to work there. It’s an old quarry with a beautiful blue lake inside of it, but after the landowning farmer got fed up of ignorant visitors continuing to leave their litter behind he blocked the tunnel which was the only way in. Sad, but perfectly understandable.
The last two years have certainly made me realise how much and how quickly things can change, and to enjoy things while you can.
As it’s the last time we’d be able to capture images there I like to think that we did it justice and captured its beauty.
The first four show the now blocked entry tunnel, as well as the super blue lake and great colours in the rock face.
And as it’s a disused quarry there are lots of rocks on the other side of the lake that make great posing platforms for Lulu
A couple of another part of the rock face.
And finally a few of another of the entrance tunnels, as it forks just before it gets to the quarry.
Many thanks to Lulu for enhancing the beauty of this lovely quarry, and I’m sure that I don’t have to remind readers of my blog “Take only photos, leave only footprints”.

Tim, as ever thanks for sharing Images of your favourite (?) long suffering model. I am always amazed how cooperative many figure models are. Riona Neve has replaced Amanda Hughes as mine. 30+ years of shooting figure has given me so much pleasure and THREE Awards in Smethwick 2018 including Gold and Silver. Oh and my 1st London Salon Medal. When next will there be an Open Exhibition. 2023? Yours, Glyn
Beautiful set of photographs Tim and Lulu. Shame about the location.
Thanks John, and it is sad about the location!
These are some of my favourite of your images. Lovely location that really complements your model.
Thanks Sarah, Lulu made great use of the location with her posing :)
What an inspiring location. Would be grwt for landscape photos but adding Lulu just elevates it further. Great work.
Thanks David, it would be fab for landscape as well :)
Quite superb Tim: you and Lulu make a great team and the locations you choose are sublime.
Cheers Russ, a great model and good location makes the image creation process very easy :)
Amazing colors in this set, and of course, Lulu is always amazing. No’s 7 & 8 could just be her leading a (fantasy) geology field trip and doing what we call arm-waving, lol, but her pose in #5 is just so blooming fine — takes my breath away. It’s interesting too how the lake changes the colors of the rocks in their reflection. Have you approached the landowner to see if he would allow special access, perhaps for a fee?
Cheers Randall, Lulu and rocks – two of your favourite things :)
I like the arm-waving idea, and the lake colour does add that something extra to the reflections.
Lulu created some amazing poses, but I think no. 5 is also my favourite.
I think it would take a lot of effort to unblock the tunnel, so unless the farmer has second thoughts I think it will remain closed.
People were dumping large items such as mattresses there, so it was turning into a rubbish dump!
Ugh! I guess I don’t blame the farmer then… if only he could have gated it with a lock.
Think it probably happened once too often, and not worth the hassle to him as he made no money from it.
What a super collection of quality images I have enjoyed seeing them – fantastic colours and textures one hell of an artistic model all captured by one of my favorite photographers xx
