I have met so many interesting people through my photography, many of them women. The majority of my joints shoot have been with talented female photographers, and most of the models are young women as well, who want to make artistic images, while earning a living and visiting beautiful – and sometimes not so beautiful – places.
Unlike some photographers I am very happy for models to approach me wanting to work with me and get paid for it, after all that’s what I did for many years when I was self-employed, and everybody has to earn a living and has bills to pay. And so what started with a quick message from the lovely Muirina Fae ended up with a week long trip around Ireland, covering many miles and creating many super images along the way.
It’s very important that a model knows she is going to be safe when working anywhere with a photographer, especially in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country. Also, I don’t really want to book a model and spend a week with them if we are not going to get on together, that would be a very long week! Usually models ask other models the photographer has worked with, or people they trust, and vice versa. Coincidentally we both independently checked each other out with Randall Hobbet, a very good mutual friend whose opinion we both trusted.
And so our adventure started in Dublin, where another good friend and talented photographer Joe Doyle joined us and arranged a great location. Here’s a few from that first day:
We then moved on to County Clare, which has The Burren and other well know locations. Here’s a selection from that area:
And a few with the drone.
Next we moved up to County Sligo, a less popular but very beautiful area, and we got more lovely images:
Then further north to County Donegal, which was more popular so meant very early starts to get some of these shots:
And then we drove over to Belfast, for a shoot with another friend, the talented Ross Mckelvey, in his studio.
And finally, one of our cottages had a very striking bathroom:
It was a creative trip, that involved lots of travelling, dodging the public and very early starts, but and had a wonderful time and produced a great selection of images, of which these are just a few with many more to come.
Muirina is visiting Europe again next Spring, so do look out for her if you are looking for a beautiful, friendly and creative model. Many thanks Muirina for a great trip, and for sending that first message!

Much enjoyed your blog post Tim
It’s always such a treat to see your work, Mr Pile. I always take a minute to study each photo and often I can relate to why you composed in such a way. It’s like solving a puzzle. 😁
Awww, so happy to see such beautiful work from special friends (thanks for the mention!). Some familiar locations and others to feel envious of–Joe Doyle’s for example. Particularly love the the drone shot of Muirina on the yellow lichen rocks, and the County Sligo ones. Need to go back!
