Iceland has not only a large number of waterfalls, but there’s such a great variety of shapes and sizes.
Here’s a collection of images of waterfalls from my last trip to Iceland with the fabulous Regina Piil.
We’ll start with a well known waterfall in a cave, where the light comes from above. Being in a cave means that there is a lot of water spraying about, so that the model, photographer, camera and lens can all get very wet. You’ll know waterdrops on the lens in some of the images on the lens, even though I was cleaning it every few seconds.

Most people know the might Skogafoss, and we did a shot with a dress, and found a handy posing rock.

But the best images are head on to the waterfall.

There’s a nice waterfall in the area of the continental ridge, and they even give you a tarmaced path down to it, along with a nice wooden decking platform for the photographer to stand on.

And finally a waterfall that is below ground level, which is handy as there is a road that drives straight past it.

Many thanks to Regina for producing these amazing images, and for the discomfort you had to go through. I can’t wait for our next adventure.
