Of all of the locations I shoot at with a model I think rocks must be my favourite. There’s such a great variety of them with different shapes, textures and colours, and that makes them a veritable playground for a great location model such as Lulu Lockhart.
This particular rock was interesting as the light was extremely directional due to the makeup of the surrounding rocks, and while tricky to balance on Lulu did a superb pose.
The triangles and angles provided the perfect inspiration for Lulu’s pose here.
While similarly she blends in perfectly with the curves and lines here.
More great variety in both the pose and the rocks structures.
And matching the curves in the rocks here.
Lulu mirrors the shapes and angles perfectly here, and shots like this aren’t the result of luck, we agree on the composition and do test shots so that Lulu can plan her poses to mirror the environment.
And similarly with this shot.
And I love this one, with Lulu body surfing the rock waves.
So while I love rocks, I love them even more when I’m with a great model such as Lulu, she’s my rock, without who I’m certain my photography would not be where it is today.

Wow another super set of images The colours textures and shapes of the rocks compliment Lulu’s poses what a superb model she is Image five is my overall favorite but but each image has something special xx
Thanks, as always, Elizabeth. That pose is lovely, and probably the most natural and least acrobatic one :)
All superb as usual, but no. 3 is particularly good – the backward bend of her spine matches the rock formations perfectly. She’s clearly very flexible!
Thanks Richard, we take test shots first so that Lulu can see the whole scene, and I often tell her about very slight adjustments to get her body to match the environment. She is very flexible :)
This is an awesome location Tim…. you don’t mention where it is, even in a general sense. :-) I’m noting the vertical white veining btw, likely quartz veins. So you have flipped some of the images horizontally I see! As to be expected, Lulu has done some brilliant posing that echoes or complements the lines in the rocks. It’s a great set… bravo you two!
Cheers Randall, and good to see you commenting on all the geological posts. It’s in England, and well spotted that I flipped some of them as they looked better that way :)
