I’ve already published three blog posts from a fabulous trip to Iceland with the adventurous Rebecca Tun and the talented photographer Marie Otero – Post 1, Post 2, and Post 3, and there’s still plenty more images to come from an amazingly productive trip.
This post is about a rather famous black sand beach, and also some of Iceland’s many famous waterfalls.
We’ll start with the black sand beach. It’s one of the most visited places in Iceland, so you have to get there very, very early. The first morning we got there and there were gale force winds even though it was the middle of Summer, so we gave up and went to other locations.
On the next morning the weather was perfect, Rebecca climbed onto the well known basalt columns and we got some fabulous compositions.
Then we tried some with the parachute dress, many thanks to Marie for holding the dress, and Photoshop content-aware fill for making her disappear :)
Just around the corner you can see the bottom of some basalt columns so we got some shots there as well.
And then after a good breakfast we shot on the beach at Vik itself.
We also visited many waterfalls, I think we counted 11 in total for the whole trip. Here’s a few of them:
Rebecca even got behind one, and yes it’s very wet there!
Thank you Rebecca for a great trip and all the amazing images we created together.

Another fabulous set. Nice work Tim & Rebecca!
Thanks Richard. Happy New Year.
Beautiful images – superb work Tim and Rebecca xx
Impressive work – I regret I wasn’t able to get great photos at such wonderful locations due to the large number of tourists and the limited daylight (4hrs per day) to find times to avoid them but you’ve inspired me to try again in the summer.
