ORIGINAL BLOG POST
I am quite cautious about working with new models, hence many of the images on my blog/website are from a small number of models. So it came as a surprise to some, including me :), that I booked three full day shoots with Lulu Lockhart a model I had never worked with before, to take place within a week of each other, and all in quite different parts of the United Kingdom.
I’d seen images of her so booked her for a shoot at a natural light studio in Wolverhampton, around a week before that shoot I was due to give a talk to Bognor Regis Camera Club, I asked a few models about a shoot on the day after but ended up booking Lulu again. Then a couple of days after my Bognor talk I was judging the Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) interclub top print and PDI championships in Belfast. Ever the opportunist I took up of the offer of using the studio of my good friend and very talented photographer Ross Mckelvey on the day after the judging. And no prizes for guessing who I booked.
So here are quite a number of images from the shoots, in no particular order, and there are a LOT more to come (click them to see larger) :
As I work full time my free time is limited, so I try to fit in shoots alongside my talks and judging, and I use who I consider the best models for my type of images. After those three shoots I would say that Lulu is certainly one of the very best models I have ever worked with. Apart from her wonderful looks which you can see for yourself, she poses so well, is determined to do everything to ensure that you get the very best images, and is just a joy to work with.
I was a bit late discovering Lulu as many of my peers in the photography world had already worked with her sometime ago, but better late than never and those three shoots made up for lost time a bit. It probably wouldn’t surprise you that I already have a number of shoots booked with her in the future, as unsurprisingly she gets booked up very quickly :)
I’m coming to Ireland in September to give my talk to some camera clubs, and coincidentally ;-) Lulu will be over there at the same time. I’m looking forward to doing some joint shoots with other Irish photographers that I know quite well, but only online. I’m looking forward to meeting them in real life. If there are any Irish photographers that would like to do a joint shoot with me then let me know, or contact Lulu herself if you would like to book her yourself.
As mentioned my visit to Belfast was to judge the NIPA top print and PDI competition. I was very honoured to be asked to judge, and there were some excellent images from a wide variety of genres. You can see the results on the NIPA website. While there are a few photographers from Northern Ireland that enter national and international exhibitions, I hope we see many more of them enter in the future as they are producing some superb images. I would like to thank Martin Spackman who looked after me for the day, and NIPA for their hospitality and organisation, as well as Ross for the use of his studio and shooting with me.
Finally, thank you Lulu for three wonderful days, until the next time, of which there will be many :)

Beautiful set of photos. Mr Pile. My favorite is Lulu in the corner of the room photo. It’s great the way the light shines into the room, but
the entire image is gorgeous. I also especially like the tailing shirt photo. The skirt train makes for good eye catching.

Thank you Mr Pope, and it will not surprise you that my blog will be containing many more Lulu images in the future :)
