Last year in England the weather was terrible all Summer which probably put paid to many location shoots, now this Summer we have had wall to wall sun, which is actually worse for photographing models than the poor weather last year.
In conditions like these you really need a dark-skinned model, or to shoot in open shade. However on this occasion I had the bright sun, but I was working with a fair-skinned model, and there was no shade.
Fortunately I was working with the very creative and versatile Holly and between us we always aim to make the best of any situation, and I like to think we succeeded on this occasion.
We found ourselves a convenient field of Dandelions, and shot straight into the sun to backlight Holly and the flowers. This first image has had a bit of an arty-farty treatment.
I’m actually like them in both mono or colour.
I shoot loads of images, as usual, and my current favourite is actually a clothed one.
Now Dandelions are classed as weeds, but I think they make pretty spectacular weeds, and the wrong kind of light suits them perfectly.
I’ve worked with Holly on many occasions now, but I feel that every time we get something different and interesting, which is more down to her than me, and long may it continue. So another big thank you to Holly.

Like these a lot both the colour and mono my favourite is the last one – kindest regards Elizabethxx
The wide format clothed shot is the best for me too – well done Tim (and Holly!)
You found art in what you were given. Just as your subject (the artist known as Holly) found joy in the “weeds”.
